This
committee is responsible for organizing and implementing the
Association's efforts to recognize and honor those persons whose diverse
efforts have enhanced the field of Environmental Studies and Sciences
and/or contributed to the improvement of the environment.

Nominations Committee
This committee is responsible for recruiting and nominating candidates for the elective offices of the Association. Nominations Committee. In identifying candidates for positions, the Nominations Committee seeks to assure the representation of the Association’s diversity of membership, in terms of age, gender, racial and ethnic background, substantive interest, field of work, type of employing institutions, and other considerations.

Outreach and Membership Committee
This committee has primary responsibility for informing potential members of the advantages of AESS membership and for expanding the membership base of the organization. The committee is expected to seek a reasonable balance between members whose original disciplines are in the biological and physical sciences, on the one hand, and in the social sciences and humanities, on the other, and to seek in other ways as well to maintain and increase membership diversity.

Professional Development Committee
This committee is responsible for investigating and recommending to Council the options that appear to have the greatest potential for improving the quality and the institutional status of work on Environmental Studies and Sciences. These options may include but need not be limited to the development of criteria and standards for accreditation of college/university programs in Environmental Studies/ Environmental Sciences (potentially including differing criteria for different categories of programs) and recommended criteria and standards for reviews of tenure and promotion cases.

Professional Publications Committee
This committee is responsible for supervising the publication of the official journal and any other professional publications of the Association. This Committee is responsible for recruiting Editors and for overseeing these publications.

Program Committee
This committee is responsible for overseeing the development of the program for the annual meeting. The President, President-Elect, and the Program Chair for the following year shall serve in an ex-officio capacity. At the discretion of the Program Chair, this Committee may be expanded to include additional members in any given year.

Site Arrangements Committee
This committee is responsible for soliciting proposals for hosting the association's annual meeting and other official meetings, for evaluating the merits of potential locations, and for recommending to Council the preferred location(s) for each meeting. The committee is asked to vary meeting locations in ways that promote the participation of members from differing regions and locations, but also to work with each meeting site to assure a consistently high quality of service to Association members.
